Experimental Studies on Production of Alternative Fuel for Green Environment

The impact on the usage of commercial fuels such as gasoline in automobile vehicles is an alarm in terms of health effects as it emits higher level of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. In addition, the need and demand for Gasoline products are in the increasing trend because of more number of vehicles which are on road and Governments plan to increase the cost of fuel. As slowly the scarcity of commercial fuels begins and the cost involved in the production is high, it is necessary to find a firm alternative fuel resource of energy, especially at this point of time. Furthermore, Hydrocarbon products may get exhausted in the next 50 years. Over these years the engineers and scientists were trying to find appropriate surrogate for the hydrocarbon products particularly gasoline for vehicle fuel. Fortunately, last researches have shown that there is a good surrogate for gasoline which is ethanol that can be produced from biomass such as dates, corns and sugarcanes. Ethanol can be the one of the fuel energy to be substituted by the gasoline which has less pollution, high octane number, more volatile on comparison with commercial fuels. As the studies are still progressing on various alternate fuels for automobile vehicles, Ethanol is a good alternative for the future generation. In this paper, Ethanol is to be produced using dates as feedstock and to be blended with gasoline (commercial petrol). So this paper gives step by step the methodology of the production of alternative fuel so called Ethanol, the preparation of the new blends (E10) and study the properties of the new produced fuel if it is can be a surrogate to commercial gasoline and consider it as an ideal fuel.
